JMU Enters Partnership with UVA Health System

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison University and University of Virginia Health System announced a partnership, which prominently features promotion opportunities in the under-construction Union Bank & Trust Center. Brokered by JMU's multimedia rights partner, Learfield IMG College, the agreement includes logo presentation on the new arena's court for 10 years and permanent naming of the facility's sports medicine area.

The agreement represents the largest corporate financial agreement in JMU Athletics history with a seven-year partnership for a total of $3.5 million and an optional extension for an additional seven years.

"This is a significant partnership for James Madison Athletics and for our new facility, the Union Bank & Trust Center," Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne said. "UVA Health System has been a steady partner, and we are thrilled that they valued their involvement with JMU to the extent of such a substantial investment. Our gratitude to the UVA team."

"UVA Health System has a longstanding relationship with JMU, including specialized sports medicine for JMU student-athletes through UVA Orthopedics, and we look forward to continuing that partnership in the years to come," said Pamela M. In addition to the prominent "apron" logo placement on the court and naming of the sports medicine area in the Union Bank & Trust Center, the arrangement also provides additional marketing and promotional benefits to UVA Health System during the football and basketball seasons.

The Union Bank & Trust Center is currently under construction on JMU's East Campus and is slated to open in the Fall of 2020. In coordination with the court sponsorship, JMU has released the design of the facility's basketball court, which prominently features elements of Athletics brand system launched in January of 2017.
