HARRISONBURG, Va. – Sophomore Megan Good struck out 10 batters and James Madison advanced to its first NCAA Softball Super Regional in program history with a 5-1 victory over Longwood, winning the NCAA Harrisonburg Regional Sunday afternoon in front of 1,691 fans at Veterans Memorial Park.

JMU set a program record for wins in improving to 49-4 while Longwood fell to 40-20 as both programs played in a regional final for the first time. Outscoring their opponents 22-2 in the regional, the seventh-seeded Dukes advanced to 10th-seeded 10 LSU in the best-of-three Super Regional, to take place May 27-28.

Senior catcher Erica Field was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including a solo home run. Â Sophomore designated player Jessica Mrozek also hit a solo homer, and senior left fielder Hannah Hayes drove in two runs to give her four RBIs for the tournament.
After giving up one run off two errors in the third, Mrozek launched a solo home run in the fifth inning, tying the game 1-1.

Field followed suit with a lead-off homer in the sixth, scoring the go-ahead run for James Madison at a 2-1 advantage over the Lancers.

Hayes tacked on two more runs in the seventh with a single up the middle. Field picked up her second RBI of the day with a sac fly to center, allowing junior Niki Prince to score from third.
Good did not allow a ball out of the infield in a dominant, complete-game effort, her second of the regional and 19th of the season. She allowed four infield hits and improved to 31-2.

For the first time in program history, James Madison will play in and host an NCAA Super Regional.Â
 SINGLE SEASON WINS RECORD
James Madison set its single-season wins record with 49. They surpassed the previous record of 48, set in 2015.

HOME-RUN HITTERS
Mrozek's homer was her third this season, with all three coming in postseason play. It was also her second straight game where she has given JMU the tying or lead run in the regional tournament. JMU recorded a home run in each regional game this weekend, highlighted by grand slams against Princeton (Newton) and North Carolina (Mrozek). The Dukes went 3-0 in the NCAA Harrisonburg Super Regional as they defeated Princeton 7-0, North Carolina 10-1 in six innings and Longwood 5-1. JMU extended its win streak to nine and home record to 17-0. JMU outscored its opponents 22-2 while holding them scoreless in 18 of 20 innings played.Â
