Raher, Dukes Win 2017 CAA Championship

Elon, N.C. – Led by senior Nora Raher winning the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Women's 6k Individual Championship, the James Madison cross country team won the 2017 CAA Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday.
Race Recap
The Dukes tallied 26 points which is 47 less than William & Mary in second. Raher won the Most Outstanding Performance Award with a time of 21:26.2. Sophomore Emily Murphy finished third with a time of 21:32.26 followed by senior Carol Strock in fourth with a time 21:37.07. Sophomore Caitlin Swanson and junior Erica Jackson rounded out the top five finishers for JMU with times of 21:45.45 and 21:58.57, respectively.

This is the eighth team conference championship and eighth individual championship. 2011 was the last time JMU won the conference and individual championship. The Dukes racked up five All-CAA honors (Raher, Murphy, Strock, Swanson, and Jackson) which led the CAA. Jackson's 21:58.57 time allowed her to set a new 6k personal record.
