Dave Lombardo, the only coach in program history, announced his 25th Anniversary team featuring a handful of players that have left a lasting impact on the program beyond their time at JMU.
Â
Every two weeks leading up to the 25th Anniversary celebration game, a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 24, against William & Mary, one position group will be highlighted.
Â
This week's spotlight is on the eight midfielders – Sam Andresch, Kim Germain, Kristi Palmaccio, Carrie Proost, Cathy Reid, Julie Reule, Teresa Rynier and Aimee Vaughan.
Â
"These players have been the quarterbacks of our offense over the years," Lombardo said. "They have been both the playmakers and goal scorers and had to track back defensively as well. They were critical in determining the outcome of many important wins for us. Their leadership, technical abilities and soccer brains have helped unlock defenses and fueled our offense. They have a proven track record of being very important to the success of JMU soccer, so much so that three of our six All-Americans have come out of this group."
Â
Sam Andresch was a part of the JMU midfield from 1993-96, making two NCAA Tournament appearances during her career. After her senior season, Andresch played in the Umbro Select Senior All-Star Game. Through the years, Andresch earned NSCAA All-Region, VaSID All-State and All-CAA honors. She was also named to the All-CAA team in 1994. Andersch is fifth on JMU's all-time assists list (27) and 18th on all-time points (53) list.

Proost was drafted into the professional WUSA league in 2003 and was a two-time USL All-Star with the Hampton Roads Piranhas.
