BOSTON – Sophomore Ebony Owusu-Sampah earned a third-place finish in the long jump competition to highlight the second day of action at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships on Saturday for James Madison track & field.  With a mark of 5.90 meters in the event, Owusu-Sampah tied her career-best jump to earn six points for the Dukes. Overall, JMU ranks 15th through six completed events at the meet, which is being hosted by Boston University. Sophomore Kennedy King finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 5.58 meters.  Sophomore De'Ana Forbes, who broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles at the Kentucky Invitational in January, finished fourth in the semifinals with a mark of 8.62 seconds. She previously earned a spot in the semis with a seventh-place finish after finishing in 8.77 seconds in the preliminaries. The finals will be run on Sunday.  Both freshman Aereale Scott and senior Jasmine Waddell also competed in the 60-meter hurdles. Scott finished 18th with a time of 8.88 seconds and Waddell placed 27th with a mark of 9.08 seconds.  Forbes also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing 11th overall in the preliminaries with a time of 24.62 seconds. Sophomore Annie Johnson finished the race in 16th place with a personal-best time of 24.78 seconds. Her previous best in the event was 24.89 seconds. Johnson also ran in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash and finished 16th in that race with a mark of 7.73 seconds.  Running the 400-meter dash, freshman Tyrah Burrow finished the preliminaries in 12th place with a time of 56 seconds flat. The mark beats her career best of 56.66 seconds, set at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Feb. 21.  In the 800-meter run, senior Kelsey Langton finished 16th with a time of 2:11.41. She missed her season-best time by eight one-hundredths of a second (2:11.33).  The Dukes also competed in both the 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter relays. In the 4x400, the team of senior Destiny Simmons, Burrow, sophomore Abby Duncan and Waddell finished 12th in the preliminaries with a time of 3:50.24. In the 4x800-meter relay, seniors Tiel Westbrook, Kristen Landry, Morgan Sheaffer and sophomore Carol Strock placed 13th with a time of 9:03.24.  The Dukes round out indoor competition on Sunday with the final day of the ECAC Championships in Boston.
