HARRISONBURG, Va. – Amber Porter, a 6-3 forward, has joined the James Madison women's basketball team after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Stetson.  Due to transfer rules, Porter will sit out the 2015-16 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2016-17 slate.  Porter made a splash with the Hatters as she earned 2014 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year and 2015 A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year honors. She notched First Team All-A-Sun honors in both of her seasons at Stetson.  The Woodbridge, Va., native averaged 13.4 points on 51.8-percent shooting from the floor and 7.6 rebounds per game during her first two seasons of play. She is tied for first in the Stetson record books for single-game rebounds (18) and blocks (8), and is tied for seventh in single-game points (28). Her 129 blocked shots as a freshman (208 career) were the third-highest total in the NCAA for the 2013-14 season and the fifth-highest total for a freshman in NCAA history.  Porter played her high school basketball for Potomac Senior High, where she averaged 27.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game as a senior. She earned first team all-district and first team all-region honors and appeared in the 2012 Group AAA Virginia state quarterfinals with the Panthers. Â
