HARRISONBURG, Va. – Center Debra Ferguson will join James Madison women's basketball following the fall semester, transferring in from Virginia, Head Coach Sean O'Reganannounced Monday afternoon.
"Debra is another great addition to our program," O'Regan said. "She has size, great hands and a great personality. We hope to get her integrated into our culture as soon as possible."
As a freshman, Ferguson appeared in 15 games, including the Cavaliers' first two WNIT contests in 2015-16. She finished the season with 17 points, 17 rebounds, five blocks and three steals over 97 minutes of action.
Prior to college, the 6-4 center from Madison Heights, Va. was a two-time First Team All-Conference 23 honoree and a three-time All-Seminole District honoree at Amherst County High School. She averaged 13.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game as a senior. Off the court, she graduated with honors in the top 25 of her class in 2015.
On the AAU circuit, Ferguson led the NC Spartans to the 2014 AAU National Championship.
Ferguson will be eligible to join the active JMU line-up in spring 2018 due to NCAA transfer rules.
