SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- William & Mary has dropped three of its last five contests, the toughest portion of its schedule, to fall to 19-9 (11-6 CAA) heading into the regular-season finale, one game ahead of the Dukes in a tie for third place.
- Despite a robust 12-3 mark at home, the Tribe is just 7-6 away from Kaplan Arena this season, though five of those wins have come in conference play. W&M traveled to Elon to earn a 75-65 win on Thursday evening to pick up its fifth road victory.
- Junior guard Omar Prewitt continues to lead the Tribe on offense with 18.0 points per game, while junior guard Daniel Dixon adds an additional 13.3. Senior forward Terry Tarpey remains one of the best all-around threats in the league, averaging 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while also leading W&M in steals and blocks.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday's contest will mark the 91st contest in the all-time series between the two teams, tied for JMU's longest men's basketball rivalry. George Mason, formerly a conference opponent, has faced the Dukes so many times.
- Each team has enjoyed winning streaks, with W&M's current five-game streak putting an end to JMU's four-game run immediately prior. The Dukes' last win over the Tribe was on March 9, 2013, to open the CAA Tournament in which JMU would earn its first CAA Championship since 1993-94.
- In this season's earlier contest, the Tribe used a red-hot second half to erase a 12-point JMU lead at halftime and hand the Dukes a 68-62 loss in Williamsburg. Senior guard Ron Curry led the way with 19 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Shakir Brown notched his fifth double-double of the year in a 13-point, 11-board performance.
LAST TIME OUT
- Towson racked up a 17-11 rebounding advantage in the second half to hold off a hard-charging James Madison team, as the Dukes dropped a 69-67 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball decision at SECU Arena Thursday evening.
- Senior guard Ron Curry racked up a remarkable 20 points in the second half for the Dukes, who fell to 20-10 (10-7 CAA) in the loss, but JMU yielded 14 second-chance points after the break as Towson pulled down 11 offensive rebounds to improve to 20-10 (11-6 CAA).
- Junior forwards Tom Vodanovich and Yohanny Dalembert also scored in double figures for the Dukes, as Vodanovich tallied 12 points and five boards, while Dalembert grabbed a team-best eight rebounds in an 11-point effort.
HONORING THE SENIORS
- Prior to Saturday's contest, JMU will honor its two seniors, Ron Curry and Winston Grays III, as well as it's four-year manager, Joe Kuykendall, in a brief ceremony before the game.
DUKES ON TV
- The Dukes will make their sixth television appearance in seven games on Saturday afternoon, when they appear live on NBC Sports. The game will also be broadcast live on MadiZone HD SportsNet. All times are Eastern and stations are subject to change, so check your local listings.
