SOUTHPORT, N.C. - James Madison men's golf freshman
Alex Henderson is tied for second out of 45 golfers following one round of play in the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Championships at the Par-72, 6,784-yard St. James Plantation.
Henderson shot even for the round and sits only one stroke off the leader thanks to three birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes.
As a team, the Dukes are in second out of nine teams at 16-over par. The College of Charleston (+8) sits atop the team leaderboard with an 8-stroke lead while CofC's William Rainey (-1) is first on the individual leaderboard.
Junior
Ryan Cole (+4, T-10th), sophomore
Matt Cowgill (+5, T-16th) and junior
Poom Pattaropong (+7, T-24th) all shot in the 70's on the day to stay close while sophomore
Jack Floydd (+11, T-39th) rounds out the scoring for JMU.
The Dukes return to the course tomorrow morning for the second round of the CAA Championships.
