HARRISONBURG, Va. – Senior members of the lacrosse and cross country/track & field programs were the first to be officially declared 2016 graduates of James Madison University in a special graduation ceremony with President Jonathan A. Alger on Wednesday afternoon atop University Park.

The event was held for eight JMU lacrosse players and two cross country and track & field runners, who will miss the University's ceremony due to postseason competition at their respective CAA Championships.

Taylor Gress,
Brooks Lawler,
Emily Pillion,
Carter Reifsnider,
Alex Revel and
Anne Zabel while
Jenna Flickinger and
Kathleen Stewart were represented from cross country and track & field.
"I am so proud to be a coach at an institution that the president takes time out of his busy schedule to graduate 10 individuals in their own special ceremony," lacrosse head coach
Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe said. "It speaks volumes to the commitment to education and athletics at JMU. We have so much to be proud of. Good luck seniors, we love you."

The JMU lacrosse team travels to Philadelphia this weekend looking to repeat as CAA champions while the track & field Dukes trek to Elon in search of their first title since 2012.
