HARRISONBURG, Va. - Five former James Madison football stars will partake in National Football League training camps, with the hopes of making the 53-man active roster or earning a spot on the practice squad for the upcoming 2016 season.
The group of five consists of tight end Daniel Brown (Baltimore Ravens), safety Dean Marlowe (Carolina Panthers), linebacker Arthur Moats (Pittsburgh Steelers), guard Earl Watford (Arizona Cardinals) and offensive tackle Josh Wells (Jacksonville Jaguars).
Moats is the most-seasoned veteran of Dukes in the pro ranks as he enters his seventh season in the NFL, including his third in Pittsburgh. Watford is in his fourth season and Wells is in his third, while both Brown and Marlowe get set for their second NFL season.
Last year, three Dukes reached the NFL playoffs, highlighted by Marlowe's Panthers winning the NFC title to advance to Super Bowl 50. Watford and the Cardinals reached the NFC Championship game against Carolina, while Moats and the Steelers made it to the AFC Divisional round.
