UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Redshirt senior goalkeeper
Kyle Morton saved a career-high eight shots, but James Madison men's soccer fell at Penn State 1-0 Friday night at Jeffrey Field.
The Nittany Lions scored the lone goal of the game in the 48th minute when Morton saved Dayonn Harris's shot, but Connor Maloney put the rebound in the back of the net.
In the 65th minute, Morton stopped two consecutive Penn State shots on either side of the net then sprawled to cover the goalmouth and forced a third shot to hit the crossbar. The senior captain also made a diving stop in the 51st minute.
Sophomore forward
Aaron Ward-Baptiste was the biggest offensive threat for the Dukes, registering two shots on goal while having two more blocked. Penn State outshot JMU, 17-11.
JMU created its fair share of chances and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. After allowing the loan goal early in the second half, the Dukes pressed hard for an equalizer and earned six second-half corner kicks.

The Dukes return to Sentara Park (formerly University Park) on Monday, Sept. 5 to face in-state rival Virginia. The Cavaliers are ranked 17th in the country and won the NCAA Championship in 2014. This is the first time since 1991 that JMU has hosted Virginia in men's soccer.
