PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – James Madison saw top-10 all-time performances from both the 4x100-meter relay and senior Tessa Mundell in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on the first day of competition at the 123^rd Penn Relays on Thursday at Franklin Field.

The 4x100 relay team of junior Aereale Scott, freshman Alexys Taylor, senior Meredith Willis and senior Kennedy King finished 15^th in the Thursday heats in 45.94 seconds, good for fourth in school history. With the finish, the relay will compete in Friday's College Finals at 1:05 p.m.

Mundell also registered the fourth-best time in program history. Her time of 10:36.30 was a personal record, topping her previous mark of 10:38.35 achieved earlier this season.

In JMU's other Thursday competition, King placed 33^rd in the long jump with a leap of 5.25 meters.

In addition to the 4x100 finals, JMU's other Friday action includes the 4x200 heats at 2 p.m. and the 100-meter hurdles at 4 p.m.
