JMU Celebrates Memorable 2019 Season at Annual Team Awards Banquet

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison football celebrated its 2019 championship season with the year-end team awards banquet on Saturday evening at the Festival Ballroom on JMU's campus.
Carter repeated as the Dean Ehlers Team MVP Award, Daka was named Charles Haley Defensive MVP and the trio of DiNucci, Polk and Stapleton were honored as the Gary Clark Offensive MVPs.
Senior Dimitri Holloway won the Bob Yetzer Leadership Award, which is given annually to the player who best exemplifies determination, dedication and leadership. Senior Rashad Robinson was presented with the Hess-Green Award, which is presented to a player who returned to the field of play after a significant injury.
Senior Adam Smith earned the Casey Carter Academic Achievement Award for the second straight year, and senior Mac Patrick took home the Jack Cavanaugh Award, which is presented to a senior athlete who has maintained good standing during their full tenure at JMU, has greater than a 3.0 GPA, has received no disciplinary referrals from the university and embodies leadership qualities.
Three other Dukes were repeat winners from 2018 awards, as junior Liam Fornadel once again earned Offensive Lineman of the Year, redshirt junior D'Angelo Amos was given the Challace McMillan Special Teams Award, which he shared with junior MJ Hampton, and redshirt sophomore Patrick Bentley was named Doug West Scout Team Offensive MVP.
