FAIRFAX, Va. – Sophomore
Nicolette Serratore won the pentathlon at the Patriot Games inside of George Mason's Field House on Friday evening, while two throwers set personal records at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg.
Serratore was at a high level throughout the competition, racking up four second-place finishes (high jump, shot put, long jump, 800-meter run) across five events. She finished with 3,282 points, 148 points ahead of the closest competitor, Hampton's Crystal Eley (3,134).
Sophomore
Sidra Morris placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.99 meters (52'6"), shattering her previous personal record of 14.25 meters (46'9"). Sophomore
Dominique Johnson also set a personal record, recording a throw of 12.86 meters (42'2"), good for 21st out of 33 throwers.
In her first collegiate indoor 5,000-meter run,
Caitlin Swanson placed fifth with a time of 18:14.63. Her mark was over 16 seconds faster than the previous facility record. Sophomore
Jackie O'Shea placed 12th, finishing in 19:41.27.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Morris now sits in third on the JMU All-Time Performance List in the indoor weight throw. She trails only Rebecca Eisenhauer (16.63m/54'7") and Daquaa Scott (17.65m/57'11").
