HARRISONBURG, Va. (12/30/2002) – Shawn Hall scored all of his 25 points during the second half to lead Appalachian State to an 83-76 victory over JMU after the Mountaineers trailed by 20 points with just less than 15 minutes to play.
Hall was 0-for-5 from the field in the first half but hit on eight of 16 shots during the final 20 minutes, including five of 11 three-point tries. David Fanning's fifth three-pointer of the night, giving him a career-high 30 points. However, JMU got no closer as Appalachian State got a dunk from Johnathan Mitchell, who started the possession with a steal under the JMU basket, and the Mountaineers hit three of four free throws in the final 18 seconds.
