HARRISONBURG, Va. (11/13/2004) – Greg Kuehn's 46-yard field goal as time expired lifted William & Mary to the 27-24 Atlantic 10 win. Kuehn's game-winning kick came on the fifth play of a 43-yard drive after JMU had pulled into a 24-24 tie on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Justin Rascati to D.D. Boxley with 45 seconds to play.

William & Mary's Lang Campbell hit on four straight passes in moving the Tribe from its 28 to the JMU 29 to set up Kuehn's kick. Campbell hit on 26 of 33 passes overall for 323 yards and two touchdowns and wasn't intercepted. He connected with eight receivers, including Matt Otey, who had a one-yard touchdown catch, and John Pitts, who caught a five-yard scoring toss.

William & Mary's final drive overshadowed a career-best rushing effort by JMU's Raymond Hines, who ran 36 times for 198 yards. His 198 yards at the time represented the ninth-best game-rushing effort for a JMU player, and the 36 carries matched the No. 2 mark on the Dukes' all-time game list.

Also overshadowed was JMU's late drive to tie the score. The Dukes moved 68 yards in 11 plays to pull into the 24-24 tie, including converting on a four-down-and-six play from the William & Mary 49. Rascati's 12-yard pass to Nic Tolley at the Tribe 37 kept the series alive, and Rascati found Boxley in the end zone after scrambling and throwing on the run from near the line of scrimmage.

William & Mary had taken its first lead, 24-17, with 5:40 left by converting the game's only turnover into a 21-yard scoring drive. The Tribe got possession when Rascati lost the ball reaching for a first down on a third-and-one play from the JMU 35. Campbell hit on two passes before Jon Smith's three-yard run on the third play put his team ahead.

JMU scored first on a 28-yard field goal by David Rabil with 2:49 left during the first quarter, and William & Mary pulled into a 3-3 tie on a 28-yard Kuehn field goal during the following series. Rascati's 17-yard scoring pass to Boxley at the 3:19 mark of the second quarter, capping a 10-play, 74-yard drive, gave JMU a 10-3 halftime lead, but the Tribe tied the score on its opening second-half series, moving 85 yards in nine plays with Campbell and Otey combining for the scoring play.

Hines scored on a four-yard run to put JMU in front 17-10 with 10:16 left in the game, capping a 10-play, 56-yard series, but William & Mary tied the score at 17-17 on Pitts' five-yard scoring catch from Campbell with 8:17 left.
