HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 16, 2006 -- James Madison junior Lasse Kokko (Lempaala, Finland/Lempaala) scored two goals to lead the Dukes to a 5-1 win over Albany in men's soccer Saturday afternoon at the JMU Soccer Complex.
JMU red-shirt senior Mike Tuddenham (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) opened the scoring at the 49:06 mark with a chip from just inside the box. Junior Tristan Murray (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite d'Youville) and red-shirt sophomore Ekom Etuk (Herndon, Va./Herndon) were credited with the assists.
Less than two minutes later, at the 50:33 mark, Kokko scored the first of his two goals, assisted by senior Kurt Morsink (San Jose, Costa Rica/IMG). Kokko's second goal came at the 61:10 mark, this time assisted by sophomore Nick Zimmerman (Tampa Bay, Fla./Wharton). Both goals came off of rebounds after the initial shot was saved by Albany's sophomore goalkeeper Steward Ceus (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland).
Albany's captain, senior Stephan Hall (Denver, Colo./Denver East), scored off of a cross from the left with 20 minutes remaining in the game to edge within two goals of the Dukes. Senior Yan Gbolo (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) and sophomore Don Johnson (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) were credited with the assists on Hall's goal.
Zimmerman assisted another goal, this time at the 82:26 mark, when senior Mark Totten (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) scored with a header off of a cross from the right. Â The other assist was awarded to Etuk, who started the play with a pass from midfield.
