FARMVILLE, Va., Feb. 6, 2007 -? Five players scored in double figures as 25th-ranked (AP) James Madison defeated Longwood 80-42 in a non-conference women's basketball game Tuesday evening at Willett Hall.

With its 12th consecutive victory JMU improved to 20-2, while Longwood dropped to 7-17.

Longwood led 4-2 at 16:43, but JMU then ran off 11 straight points for a 13-4 advantage at 12:24. After Longwood's Courtney Dyer hit two free throws, the Dukes scored six in a row for a 19-6 lead at 9:34.

The Lancers responded with a 6-0 run to cut the margin to seven, 19-12 at 6:25. Then junior guard Jasmin Lawrence (Queens, N.Y./Francis Lewis) hit a three-pointer that started a run of 14 straight points. Lawrence knocked down another three-pointer to finish the run at 1:39, giving the Dukes a 33-12 lead.

Longwood got no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.

JMU senior center Meredith Alexis (Hanover Township, Pa./Bishop Hoban) led the Dukes with 14 points and also had a game-high 11 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season and her 56th career double-double. It was also her 68th career double-figure rebounding game.

Junior forward Tamera Young (Wilmington, N.C./Laney) and Lawrence each finished with 11 points, and senior forward Shirley McCall (Collinsville, Va./Bassett) and redshirt junior forward Jennifer Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y./Martin Luther King) added 10 points apiece.

Senior guard Andrea Benvenuto (Ancaster, Ontario/St. Mary's) handed out a game-high nine assists.

Longwood's Keiva Small took game scoring honors with 17 points.
