HARRISONBURG, Va. April 10, 2007 ? The doubles point made the difference in the Dukes match with the Spartans as the singles competitors split and Norfolk State won two of three doubles matches for the deciding point in a 4-3 victory over James Madison.
Norfolk State won the first two doubles matches before JMU won the third behind the play of John Snead (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) and Brian Rubenstein (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton).
Snead added a singles victory as the No. 2 player over Peter Krakora.
Mike Smith (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) won his No. 3 singles match over Vassil Zahariev and Brian Clay (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) added the third and final team point over Roman DelCastillo in the No. 4 singles match.
The Dukes travel to Newark, Del. This weekend for match-ups against CAA opponents Hofstra, Delaware, and UNC Wilmington. JMU will first take on Hofstra at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 13.
