FARMVILLE, Va. Sept. 12, 2007 -- The JMU men's golf team placed two players in the top-10 overall on their way to a third place finish in the Poplar Hills Intercollegiate.
Junior Fielding Brewbaker (Salem, Va./Salem) shot rounds of 74, 71 and 73 on his way to a fourth-place finish with a three round total of 218. He finished just five strokes behind tournament winner Brendan Madden (Duquesne) and runner-up Ryan Bell (Gardner-Webb).
Junior Tim Driver (Harrisonburg, Va./Spotswood) finished tied for ninth after shooting a three round total of 221. He posted individual rounds of 73, 73 and 75.
Matt Pesci and sophomore Michael Meisenzahl (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) each finished tied for 33rd after shooting three round totals of 234. Pesci shot individual rounds of 77, 80 and 77 while Meisenzahl fired rounds of 74, 75 and 85. Freshman Matt Neely (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) finished 41st overall shooting a 80, 85, and 73 for a total of 283.
Sophomore Jhonny Montano (Cochabamba, Bolivia/Cochabamba Cooperative School) played separate from the rest of his team and finished tied for 21st after shooting three consecutive 76s and putting up a three-round total of 228.
The Dukes finished in third behind tournament champion Gardner-Webb (869) along with host school Longwood (885).
