MEN'S SOCCER DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO HOFSTRA

Box ScoreHARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 1, 2008 ? A second-half goal by Hofstra freshman Brett Carrington (St. George, Barbados/Harrison College) lifted the Pride to a 2-1 win at James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer Saturday evening at the JMU Soccer Complex.
The victory gave the Pride a 5-8-4 overall record and a 4-3-3 record in league play. JMU's overall record is 6-8-3, and the Dukes have a 3-6-1 CAA record.
On the winning goal Hofstra junior Rory McCrea (Sherburn-In-Elmet, Leeds, England/Sherburn) sent a pass from the center of the field into the middle of the box to Carrington. Carrington then knocked the ball into the right corner of the goal 13:48 into the period.
The other scores came 49 seconds apart in the early going of the first period.
Hofstra struck first, on a hard shot from the left edge of the box by sophomore Erik Rengifo (Woodhaven, N.Y./Beach Channel). The ball hit a JMU defender in front of the goal and ricocheted into the goal at 12:13. McCrea (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) made the initial pass to Rengifo and got the assist.
