NORFOLK, Va., March 22, 2008 ? Old Dominion University jumped out to an 8-0 lead and put the game away with a seven-run seventh to defeat James Madison University 19-10 in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action on Saturday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Complex.

ODU improved to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in the CAA, snapping a six-game losing streak. JMU fell to 15-5 overall and 9-2 in the CAA. The Dukes had a seven-game conference winning streak, dating back to the series finale against William & Mary on March 2.

Junior All-American Anthony Shawler (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith) earned the win, allowing five runs on seven hits in seven innings. He struck out 10 JMU batters, marking the third straight game with double-digit strikeouts for the Dukes.

Junior Justin Wood (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) took the loss for JMU after allowing six runs on eight hits in 2 1/3 innings.

Redshirt sophomore Steven Caseres (New City, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional) was 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a grand slam, a walk, and three runs scored for JMU. Redshirt senior Joe Lake (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) had three hits, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Redshirt junior Brett Sellers (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) had two hits and a run scored to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. Redshirt junior Lee Bujakowski (Hopewell, Va./Hopewell) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Redshirt senior Jimmy Miles (Orlando, Fla.) was 5-for-6 with four runs scored and an RBI for the Monarchs. Senior Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) had three hits, five RBIs, and scored twice. Shawler was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Freshman Edgar Hernandez (Luguillo, P.R.) was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs.
