HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., March 29, 2008 ? Junior Justin Wood (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) tossed James Madison University's first complete game of the season in recording a 6-2 Colonial Athletic Association win over Hofstra University on Saturday afternoon at University Field.

JMU improved to 18-7 overall and 11-3 in the CAA while winning its third straight. Through 14 conference games, the Dukes have already matched their win total from last season when they went 11-18. HU dropped to 8-18 overall and 0-11 in the CAA.

Wood faced the minimum number of hitters through 6 2/3 innings. The only hit was erased on a double play. The Pride pushed two runs across in the seventh with the aid of two JMU errors, making both runs against Wood unearned. He allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out six and improving to 2-1.

JMU had just five hits in the game but took advantage of seven walks and two hit batters. Redshirt freshman Trevor Knight (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield) had a two-run single, a steal, and scored a run. Redshirt sophomore Steven Caseres (New City, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional) doubled with an RBI and run scored. Sophomore Alex Foltz (Mathias, ,W.Va./East Hardy) had a hit, an RBI, a run, and a walk.

Junior Nick Panzarella (Three Bridges, N.Y./Valley Stream) took the loss for Hofstra. He cruised through the first five innings before JMU erupted for five runs in the sixth. Panzarella allowed four runs on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings.

Hofstra had just four hits in the game. Sophomore Matt Prokopowicz (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) singled, scored a run, and was hit by a pitch.

Neither team got much of a threat going until JMU broke through in the sixth. Sophomore Mike Fabiaschi (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) got the big break when he walked to lead off the inning and advanced all the way to third on a failed pickoff attempt.
