HARRISONBURG, Va., April 11, 2008 ? James Madison University put up five runs in the first inning and held on for a 7-5 victory over the University of Delaware in the first game of a Colonial Athletic Association baseball series on Friday afternoon at Long Field/Mauck Stadium.

JMU improved to 23-8 on the season and sits in second place in the CAA at 13-3. It was JMU's fourth straight win in conference play. UD dropped to 11-20 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

Sophomore Kyle Hoffman (Reading, Pa./Twin Valley) labored through five innings to earn the victory for the Dukes. He entered the weekend sharing the CAA lead in wins and improved to 6-1. Hoffman struck out eight, one shy of his career high, and allowed four runs on five hits.

Redshirt senior Trevor Kaylid (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) worked 1 2/3 innings, and freshman Kevin Munson (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) worked the final 2 1/3 innings to pick up his third save. Munson struck out five of the nine batters he faced.

Redshirt junior Brett Sellers (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) raised his conference-leading batting average to .451 with half of JMU's eight hits, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two steals, a run, and an RBI. Redshirt junior Lee Bujakowski (Hopewell, Va./Hopewell) had a big hit with a three-run double in the first.

Redshirt sophomore Steven Caseres (New City, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional) hit his team-leading 11^th home run of the season for JMU. He also walked twice and was hit by a pitch. Sophomore Alex Foltz (Mathias, W.Va./East Hardy) walked four times and leads the CAA on the season with 31. He added a pair of steals.

Senior Mike McGuire (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) allowed all seven runs for the Blue Hens in six innings. He struck out four, allowed seven hits, and issued eight walks.
