BROOKLINE, Mass., May 17, 2008 ? Sophomore Matt Browning (Mystic, Conn./Fitch) had four hits and freshman Kevin Munson (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) pitched 5 1/3 innings of no hit relief as James Madison University defeated Northeastern University 6-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season finale for both teams at Friedman Diamond.

JMU improved to 34-17 overall and 20-9 in the CAA. The Dukes reached the 20-win mark in conference for just the second time, having gone 22-8 in 2006. JMU finished a 3-1 road trip to improve to 17-7 on the road in 2008. NU dropped to 25-26-1 overall and 12-17-1 in the CAA. The Huskies were eliminated from the CAA Championship with the loss and finished with their first losing season since 2001.

Munson entered with two on in the fourth with JMU leading 6-4. He issued a walk before escaping the jam. He proceeded to work five more frames allowing no hits and allowing one more free pass with five strikeouts while improving to 2-0. Freshman Alex Valadja (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) started and allowed four runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Browning's four hits matched the career high he set in March against Towson. He homered to lead off the second inning, doubled, singled twice, stole a base, and scored a pair of runs. Sophomore Alex Foltz (Mathias, W.Va./East Hardy) went 2-for-3 with a run and two walks. Sophomore Mike Fabiaschi (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Sophomore Ryan Quigley (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) took the loss for the Huskies, falling to 2-4. He allowed six runs on six hits in three innings. Sophomore Sheldon McDonald (Spruce Grove, Alberta/Spruce Grove Composite) fired six scoreless innings in relief allowing five hits and five walks while striking out nine.

Junior Mike Tamsin (Branford, Conn./Branford) went 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Senior Mike Lyon (Plainville, Mass./King Philip) doubled, walked twice, and scored. Junior Frank Pesanello (Plainville, Mass./Bishop Feehan) doubled and drove in three.
