PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 22, 2008 – James Madison University senior center Scott Lemn (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) Friday was named to The Sports Network's 2008 Football Championship Subdivision preseason All-America second  team.
Â
Lemn in 2008 is expected to be a fourth-year starter for the Dukes, and a year ago he was first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association and an honorable mention All-America by The Sports Network.
Â
Lemn in 2007 led a JMU offensive line that helped the Dukes average 33.3 points, 410.0 yards of total offense and 265.1 yards of rushing offense per game. Â JMU led the nation in fewest quarterback sacks allowed, giving up only six in 12 games.
Â
Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington each placed four players on the three preseason All-America teams, and the Big Sky Conference in which Northern Arizona competes had 18 athletes selected.
Â
Northern Arizona landed cornerback K.J. Gerard and punter Robbie DeHaze on the first team while safety Cyrus Igono and tight end Shaun Fitzpatrick were third-team selections.
Â
Eastern Washington was represented by defensive end Greg Peach on the second team while fullback Alexis Alexander, wide receiver Aaron Boyce and defensive tackle Lance Witherspoon were named to the third team.
Â
Montana was one of five teams with a trio of players picked with safety Colt Anderson and offensive linemen Colin Dow and Brent Russum being tabbed.
Â
The Colonial Athletic Association grabbed 12 spots and the Missouri Valley Football Conference (formerly the Gateway) 10.
Â
Richmond also earned four selections, with guard Matt McCracken and kick returner Justin Rogers making the second team and defensive end Sherman Logan and tackle Tim Silver third team.
Â
Twenty-eight members of the 2007 postseason All-America squad were selected to the preseason team, including Armanti Edwards, the quarterback of three-rime defending national champion Appalachian State and his teammate, linebacker Pierre Banks.
Â
Two Buchanan Award (national defensive player of the year) candidates from 2007, Montana State linebacker Bobby Daly and Nicholls State safety Lardarius Webb, were first-team selections.
Â
Six Payton Award (national offensive player of the year) finalists from 2007 were also represented, quarterback Dominic Randolph (Holy Cross), receivers Ramses Barden (Cal Poly) and Terrell Hudgins (Elon) and running backs Herb Donaldson (Western Illinois), Mike McLeod (Yale) and Tyler Roehl (North Dakota State).
