HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 24, 2009 -- A first-half score by James Madison junior CJ Sapong (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) lifted the Dukes to a 1-0 men's soccer win at Drexel in Colonial Athletic Association action Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field.
Sapong chested in a corner kick by senior Billy Swetra (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) in the 19th minute.
JMU upped its overall record to 8-4-2 and evened its CAA record at 3-3-1. Drexel dropped to 5-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in league play.
The Dukes out-shot Drexel 11-8, and JMU junior goalkeeper Ken Manahan (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) made five saves as he and the Dukes recorded their seventh shutout of the season. Drexel goalie Tres Heffron made one save.
