HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 31, 2009?Five players finished with double-digit points as James Madison defeated Philadelphia University 92-71 in a Men's Basketball exhibition Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Freshman guard Darren White (Danville, Va.) led the Dukes with 20 points, while sophomore forward Julius Wells (Toledo, Ohio) and freshman forward Trevon Flores (Harvey, La.) had 16 and 13 points, respectively.
Sophomore forward Andrey Semenov (St. Petersburg, Russia) had 12 points for JMU and freshman guard Alioune Diouf (Powder Springs, Ga.) had 10 points to go with five rebounds coming off the bench.
The Dukes went 16-27 from the three-point line for the game, including 10-15 in the first half to open up a 51-27 lead at halftime. JMU also maintained pressure on the defensive end throughout the game, forcing 16 turnovers that resulted in 21 points.
Senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, Md.) played all 40 minutes and led Philadelphia in scoring with 19 points. Senior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, Pa.) had a double-double for the Rams with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Senior guard Pierre Curtis (Denver, Colo.) led the Dukes in assists, racking up nine in 23 minutes of play. JMU opens up regular-season play Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Ohio State, and the first home game is Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. against Maryland-Baltimore County.
