THREE DUKES SELECTED TO ALL-REGION WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM

KANSAS CITY, Kan., Dec. 4, 2009 -- Three James Madison women's soccer players have been named to the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team.
Senior forward Corky Julien (Williamstown, Ontario./Char Lan District), redshirt senior defender Teri Maykoski (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) and junior midfielder Teresa Rynier (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) were named to the all-region first team.
Julien won her third all-region honor and was named to the first team for the second year in a row. She was a third-team selection in 2007. Maykoski was named to the first team for the first time after earning second-team recognition last season. Rynier was a first-time all-region honoree.
Julien completed her career in second place on JMU's career goals (44) and points (102) lists. She was the Colonial Athletic Association co-leader in game-winning goals (7) and ranked second in the CAA in goals average (0.74) and points average (1.63). In 2009 Julien set school records for season (7) and career (19) game-winning goals. She was earlier named to the All-CAA first team and the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Star second team.
Rynier led the CAA in both assists (15) and assist average (0.71) and ranks second in the nation in assist average (0.63). In 2009 she set school records for career assists (40), season assists (15) and assists in a game (four).
Maykoski anchored a JMU defense that allowed just over goal per game (1.07 average) and recorded seven shutouts.
JMU completed the season with an 11-8-2 record and was runner-up in the CAA Championships.
