BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 14, 2009 ? The JMU men's tennis dropped 4-3 decision to St. Bonaventure on Saturday in Blacksburg, Va. The Dukes fell to 0-6 with the loss.
The Bonnies opened the match with a 3-0 winning the doubles point and a pair of singles matches. Madison responded though, getting singles wins from sophomore Jared Robinson (Johannesburg, South Africa/St. Stithians), freshman Tommi Nissinen (Oulu, Finland/Kastellin lukio) and senior Brian Rubenstein (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) to set up tie breaker at No. 2 singles.
Junior Mike Smith (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) forced the match into a third-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-6(6).
