HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., Feb. 18, 2009 ? Zygis Sestokas hit for three three-point field goals during the second overtime to lead Hofstra to a 99-96 double-overtime victory over James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball Wednesday.
Sestokas tied the score at 86-86 and at 89-89 with three-pointers and put the Pride in front to stay 92-90 with a three with 1:10 left in the second overtime. Hofstra led by as much as 96-90 during the second extra period before holding on during the final seconds.
The game had been tied at 67-67 at the end of regulation and 81-81 after the first overtime.
Sestokas had two other three-pointers during the second half of regulation of finished with 19 points. Charles Jenkins led Hofstra with 32 points and 13 rebounds in 48 minutes.
JMU put six players in double figures in scoring and was led by freshman forward Julius Wells (Toledo, Ohio/Libbey), who had a career-high 32 points, including three three-pointers during the second extra period.
Wells got JMU to within 96-93 with 19 seconds left and to within 98-96 with 0:05 left with three-pointers. Hofstra's Mike Davis-Sabb hit on one of two free throws with 3.5 seconds left for a 99-96 Hofstra
