GRIFFIN NAMED TO LACROSSE NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 5, 2010 -- James Madison senior lacrosse player Kim Griffin(Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) is among 52 players who have been named to the 2010 "Watch List" for the Tewaaraton Trophy, given to the nation's top college lacrosse player.
The Tewaaraton Trophy is presented annually following the collegiate season to the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse players in the United States. Tewaaraton is the name the Mohawk Indian nation gave to its game and the progenitor of present-day lacrosse.
A three-year starter in midfield, Griffin led the team in shooting percentage (.476), was second in draw controls (30) and free-position goals (9) and third in points (38) and goals (30) in 2009. Griffin was also named All-Colonial Athletic Association first team and all-state (VaSID) second team in 2009.
Griffin is the sixth JMU player in the past nine years to be in the running for the Tewaaraton Trophy. Past nominees include Annie Wagner (2008), Kelly Berger (2007), Ashlee Dardine (2005), Gail Decker (2003, 2004) and Lisa Staedt (2002, 2003). Decker was one of five finalists in 2004 and Staedt was one of five finalists in 2003.
