GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Oct. 27, 2011 -- Former James Madison women's
soccer player Christina
"Corky" Julien ('10) has won a Pan American
Games gold medal playing for Canada.
Canada beat Brazil 4-3 on penalty kicks Thursday night after regulation and
overtime play ended in a 1-1 tie.
Canada's Christine Sinclair scored the tying goal in the 88th minute to
force overtime.
Julien played every minute of regulation and the two overtime periods but was
not among the five Canada players in the first and deciding round of PKs.
The former JMU All-America was the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Player of
the Year. She completed her collegiate career ranked second on JMU's career goals list (44), second on the career points list (102) and tied 18th on the career
assist list (14). Julien scored a
JMU-record 19 career game-winning goals.
