James Madison University redshirt-sophomore Cameron Starke picked up his second award of the week, as he was named the College Sporting News Special Teams National All-Star, the publication announced. Previously, he had been named Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week, with both awards coming for his play in the thrilling win at #20 Liberty, Sept. 17.
Starke garnered the awards after going 3-for-3 on PATs and hitting both field goal attempts, including the 40-yard game-winner as time expired. In James Madison's 27-24 win on the road at No. 22 Liberty, Starke also hit a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter. Starke's 40-yard effort marked the longest field goal made by a Duke since 2009 when Dixon Wright hit a 45-yard attempt against Towson.
The Dukes will open Colonial Athletic Association play on the road, traveling to Williamsburg, Va., to take on #4 William & Mary. Kickoff at Zable Stadium is set for 7 p.m., and will be televised as part of the CAA's television package.
