After leading by two shots after the second round, Madison battled through the final round to post a 1-under 283 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 1-under 851, one shot better than runner-up and CAA foe Towson at even-par 852. Host William & Mary was third at 10-over 862, with Saint Joseph's at 30-over 882 and Fairleigh Dickinson at 32-over 884 rounding out the top five teams in the field.Â
"It was great to see how well and consistent everyone played," Head Coach Jeff Forbes said. "A couple of birdies at the end got us the win, so I was thrilled to see the guys step up at the end and make this win happen."
Junior Jon Weiss (Florence, S.C./Sumter (Newberry)) posted his second straight 1-under 70 to finish at 2-under 211 in fourth place to lead the Dukes.  Freshman Ryan Cole (Mount Airy, Md.) and junior Trey Smith (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) were two shots back of Weiss in a tie for fifth at even-par 213. Cole shot a 1-under 70 as well, while Smith had the best round of the day for JMU with a 2-under 69. Freshman Poom Pattaropong (Minburi, Bangkok, Thailand) also finished in the top 10, tying for seventh at 1-over 214 with a final 18 score of 3-over 74, while senior Tucker Koch (Malvern, Pa./Malvern Prep) tied for 32nd at 12-over 225, closing with a 3-over 74. Playing as an individual, sophomore Chris Kapsak tied for 23rd at 8-over 221 after a final round 4-over 75.
