CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Feb. 16, 2013 – The James Madison women's swimming team finished with 409 points as a team to win the UVA Cavalier Invitational at the Aquatics Fitness Center in Charlottesville, Va., Saturday.Â
Freshman Stephanie Clarke (South Riding, Va. Freedom) highlighted the action on the day for JMU. She finished second in the 100-yard butterfly and third in the 100-yard backstroke. In the butterfly she timed a 56.07, the fourth-fastest time in school history. She turned in the third-fastest time at JMU history in the 100 backstroke with a 56.98.Â
Junior Addy Morrison (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) contributed a career-best time in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:20.06 to finish in third. In her other swim of the day, Morrison came in third in the 400-yard individual medley. Her time was a 4:38.33.Â
Madison's final individual swim was the 50-yard freestyle. Sophomore Susanne Gingher (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) was the Dukes' top finisher in third (23.69), while senior Andrea Criscuolo (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) came in fourth (24.04).Â
In relay action, the JMU 'A' team placed fifth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.52.Â
The swimming and diving team returns to action at the end of February at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The Championships are hosted by George Mason from Feb. 27-March 2.Â
