9 Field Hockey Players are on NFHCA National Academic Squad

HARRISONBURG, Va., March 5, 2013 – Nine member of the James Madison field hockey team were named to the 2012 Gladiator SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad as announced by the organization, Tuesday.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes that have achieved a 3.30 or greater grade point average through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. The nine Dukes to garner honors were senior midfielder Jenna Taylor (Midlothian, Va./James River), senior forward/midfielder Auburn Weisensale (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), redshirt junior forward Rachel Wein (Perryville, Md./Perryville), sophomore forward Bethany Ashworth (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and freshmen Saskia Chelmowski (Berlin, Germany/Gustav-Heinemann-Cherschule), Adrienne le Vatte (Port Elizabeth, South Africa/Alexander Road), Bailee Hubert (Stafford, Va./Mountain View), Kristen Reitano (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and Lena Wimmert (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany/Lise-Meitner Gymnasium).
Ashworth was named to the National Academic Squad for the second time while all three upperclassmen, Taylor, Wein and Weisensale, were designated as four-year recipients.
The 2012 field hockey team as a whole was named as a National Academic Team on Monday. The National Academic Team recognizes those institutions that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.
JMU was one of 70 Division I teams honored on Monday, including six Colonial Athletic Association squads.
