NORFOLK, Va., March 30, 2014 – The James Madison men's tennis team fell to Old Dominion 6-1 on Sunday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. Freshman Sebastian Salinas (Merida, Mexico/Preparatoria Abierta SEP) tallied the lone point for the Dukes with his win in singles play.
Salinas topped Dante Terenzio 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to even his record at 13-13. The freshman is 8-6 in dual matches, including a 6-3 mark in the second spot. He has posted back-to-back wins, including a win against Drexel to help the Dukes notch their first CAA victory of the season.
JMU lost the doubles point but received a win from freshman Miljan Ruzic (Sydney, Australia/St. Euphemia Collge) and sophomore Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia/St. Columbans College). Playing at No. 1 doubles, the pair downed Jonas Kuwert and Terenzio 8-4. The duo improved to 10-9 during the fall and spring seasons combined.
The Dukes are home for their next match, a conference tilt against Delaware on Wednesday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the UREC Tennis Courts at University Park.
