WILMINGTON, N.C. – James Madison women's soccer dropped a 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association decision to the UNCW Seahawks at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Friday night.

Offense was scarce for the Dukes (9-6-1, 3-2-1 CAA), who were held without a shot on goal against a tough UNCW back line. The Seahawks outshot JMU 9-4 and forced five saves from senior goalkeeper Ellen Forrest.

Following a scoreless first half, UNCW (11-5-1, 4-2-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 61^st minute when Stephanie Bronson collected a loose ball and slotted home her fifth goal of the season, from 15 yards out. The Seahawks then doubled their lead in the 73^rd minute when a deflection off of a JMU defender resulted in an own goal. UNCW adding a third goal in the 85^th minute.

The Dukes came close to getting on the board in the 41^st minute when redshirt freshman Kylie Hegemier fired a shot from distance, but the ball rang off the crossbar to end the threat.

Madison returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when its weekend road trip continues with a battle at Patriots Point against the College of Charleston.

DUKES IN THE CAA
With tonight's loss, the Dukes drop to fifth place in the CAA behind Hofstra, Northeastern, UNCW and William & Mary. The Pride jumped into first following a 2-1 overtime win against the Huskies on Friday night.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Forrest, who came into the game ranked third in the CAA in saves with 60, has still played every minute of every game for the Dukes this season after going the full 90 minutes against UNCW.

"Tonight was not one of our better performances," head coach David Lombardo said. "UNCW played aggressively and energetically and unfortunately, we weren't able to match that tonight."

LOOKING FORWARD
James Madison and College of Charleston have only gone head-to-head twice in the history of the programs with the Dukes coming out on top, 3-0, in both 2013 and 2014. The Cougars will head into Sunday's matchup with a record of 2-4-1 in the CAA and 8-7-1 overall.
