11/1/2015 3:17:00 PM | Field Hockey
The Dukes (13-5) finished the regular season with a perfect 6-0 record against CAA foes and earned the right host the tournament on their home field Nov. 6 and 8. The Pride (14-5) completed the regular season at 4-2 in CAA play and are awaiting their seeding for the tournament.
Five Dukes scored in the win, including four seniors. Senior Adrienne le Vatte led the way with her first career hat trick, tallying three goals on the afternoon. She finished the day with a team-high seven points after assisting on a straight corner strike by senior Loes Stijntjes.
Stijntjes and redshirt senior Taylor West finished the day with four points each. West scored two goals to move into a tie for fourth in all-time career goals at JMU (55) and take sole possession of fourth place in all-time career points (128).
Top-seeded JMU awaits the fourth seed in next week's CAA tournament, which has yet to be determined. This is the fourth time in program history the Dukes will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament and third under the guidance of Head Coach Christy Morgan.
QUOTING COACH MORGAN
"The seniors stepped up today and the rest of the team played for the seniors, and that's powerful when you're playing for something bigger than you…We're doing the work and we're getting the results."
