HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison snapped a two-game losing streak and closed the non-conference schedule with an impressive 87-45 women's basketball win over Davidson at the Convocation Center Wednesday night.

The Dukes improved to 7-4 on the year while the Wildcats dropped to 6-7. The victory marked the seventh straight win at home.

JMU used a 19-2 run to take a 21-4 lead just over seven minutes into the game. The Dukes scored 48 points in the first half, their second-highest of the season, to take a 48-21 lead into the locker room. Madison continued the momentum into the second half with a 6-0 run to take a 31-point lead at the end of the third quarter.

Redshirt senior guard Jazmon Gwathmey led four Dukes in double figures with her game-high 27 points. Senior guard Angela Mickens tallied 17 points and senior guard Ashley Perez had 14 while freshman center Kayla Cooper-Williams chipped in 10, paired with nine rebounds for a set of career-high figures.

James Madison shot 43.3 percent (29-67) for the game while limiting DC to 26.9 percent (18-67) shooting. The Dukes also converted 78.6 percent (22-28) of their free throws, as opposed to the Wildcats' 58.3 percent (7-12). JMU outscored Davidson 19-3 off turnovers and 19-11 on second-chance opportunities.

JMU hits the road to open conference play on Sunday, Jan. 3. The Dukes take on William & Mary at 2 p.m. in both teams' Colonial Athletic Association opener.

NUMBERS OF NOTE

JMU's 48 points over the first two quarters is the second-highest total this season (51 points vs. Morgan State).
JMU turned the ball over eight times against Davidson, the lowest total of the season and the lowest mark since turning the ball over just eight times against the College of Charleston on March 4, 2015.
This marked the fourth game this season where four or more Dukes scored in double figures.
With 2,353 fans in attendance, the Dukes have drawn crowds of 2,000 or more fans to 32 consecutive games at the Convo.

Aneah Young tallied her first career free throws, knocking down a pair in the final minutes of the game.
