JMU Has 20 Named To CAA Academic All-Conference Team

HARRISONBURG, Virginia – James Madison University football had 20 players named to the Colonial Athletic Association Academic All-Conference team, the league announced. That total tied for third among CAA programs, as to be eligible for the squad, student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
In addition, redshirt-junior offensive lineman Dominick Richards was a finalist for the 2014 CAA Football Student-Athlete of the Year, chosen by the league's media relations directors. Richards shifted to the offensive line from tight end prior to the 2014 season and played in 10 games on the offensive line and on special teams this season, earning a place in the offensive line rotation during the season. He helped JMU post its top offensive totals in school history, churning out a league-high 497 yards per contest and a CAA-best 39.9 points per game in conference action. The offense set new single-season program marks for the top passing categories as well as total offense, as he blocked for Vad Lee, a Third-Team All-American who finished fourth in the Walter Payton Award balloting for National Offensive Player of the Year and set numerous school single-game and season passing records. Richards has been selected to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll two times and also has been a recipient of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award.
On the Friday prior to the Spring Game, the Duke Club will host its annual Duke Club Golf Outing at Spotswood Country Club. The 2015 JMU Football Spring Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium. Admission is free for the split-squad, full four-quarter football exhibition.
Coming off a 9-4 mark and a berth in the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs in Withers' first season at the helm, the Dukes open the 2015 season at Bridgeforth Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5, hosting Morehead State. Season tickets for the 2015 slate are available for purchase now and can be ordered online at JMUSports.com/tickets or by contacting the JMU Ticket Office at 540-568-DUKE (3853). A full stadium reseating is scheduled for this June and will allow season ticket holders to select their seat location based on their Duke Club Priority.
