HARRISONBURG, Va. – Strong senior day performances led James Madison women's tennis past Morgan State 7-0 at Hillside Courts on Sunday in the Dukes' regular-season finale.  The Dukes conclude the regular season with a 13-7 record on the year while the Bears fall to 6-14.
Both seniors Taylor Pinchoffand Sarah Khanwent 2-0 on the day, picking up wins in doubles to sweep the point before tallying two-set victories in singles.  JMU won No. 3 doubles by default to open action with a 1-0 advantage towards the point. Pinchoff and sophomore Alex Huie clinched the doubles point after winning the last five games of the No. 1 match to defeat Chelsi Russell and Danielle Thompson 8-3. Khan and sophomore Rachel Nelson finished doubles play with an 8-7 (4) win over Jasmin Edwards and Kayla Price at No. 2. The pair avoided a Morgan State match point to tie it up at seven games apiece before winning the tiebreak 7-4, including four straight points.  JMU went into singles play with a 2-0 edge after winning No. 6 singles by default. Pinchoff pushed the advantage to 3-0 with a sweep of Russell at No. 1. A 6-0 win in the first set was followed by a 6-2 win in the second, with Pinchoff winning the last three games.  Freshman Kimmy Herrocksecured the JMU victory with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Riana Roberts at No. 4 singles. Huie also swept at No. 3 singles, defeating Price 6-3, 6-2 to push JMU to a 5-0 lead.  The Dukes finished the day with two tiebreak victories. Khan beat Edwards 6-1, 7-6(9) at No. 5 singles. She rallied from down 2-4 in the tiebreaker to win 11-9 off a second serve ace. Nelson won the final point of the day, beating Thompson 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. The third set was played as a tiebreak, with Nelson breaking serve twice to rally from 7-8 down to grab the win.  JMU next travels to Williamsburg, Va. for the CAA Championships and the opening round is Thursday, April 16 with seeding to be determined.
