Dukes Fall 4-0 to Top-Seeded William & Mary in CAA Semifinals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – No. 5 James Madison women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 1 William & Mary on Saturday in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Tournament Semifinals.
William & Mary won the first two doubles matches to secure the point before winning the nine completed singles sets to take the 4-0 win.
Maria Groener and Olivia Thaler defeated freshman Kimmy Herrockand sophomore Rebecca Harris8-3 at No. 2 doubles to open play. Jeltje Loomans and Leeza Nemchinov followed with an 8-6 victory over senior Taylor Pinchoff and sophomore Alex Huieat No. 1 to earn the first point of the day.
At No. 2 singles, sophomore Rachel Nelsonfell 6-3, 6-1 to Loomans and the Tribe took a 2-0 lead. A 6-3, 6-2 loss by Pinchoff to Nemchinov at No. 1 pushed their advantage to 3-0.
The Tribe clinched match point with a 6-3, 6-2 win by Melanie Roy at No. 4 singles over Herrock.
The Dukes conclude the season with a 14-8 record. The Tribe moves on to Sunday's CAA title match with a 15-6 record and will face either No. 2 College of Charleston or No. 3 Elon.
