Nelson, Owens Combine for Three Flight Titles at Hokie Fall Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Junior Rachel Nelsonand sophomore Dylan Owenscontinued their winning streaks on Sunday as the duo won the White Flight doubles title before earning their own singles flight titles.
Nelson and Owens dropped Virginia Tech's Sloan Barton and Emily Pence 6-2 in the championship match of the White Flight to earn the title. The Dukes are 4-1 as a unit this fall.
In singles, Nelson battled Pence for the two-set win (7-5, 6-1) in the Service Flight championship match and moved to 5-1 this tournament season. Owens pounced on Towson's Yergeniya Shusterman for the two-set win (6-2, 6-1) and the Duty Flight championship as she improved to 6-1 on the year.
Junior Rebecca Harrisand sophomore Kimmy Herrock earned a 6-3 doubles victory over Lauren Reid and Mareli Sanchez in an Orange Flight consolation match.
The Dukes next compete at the 2015 ITA Atlantic Regionals Oct. 15-19.

UP NEXT JMU will rest up over the next two weekends as the Dukes prep for the 2015 ITA Atlantic Regionals tournament (Oct. 15-19), hosted by Liberty in Lynchburg, Va.
