JMU Basketball Runs Hometown Favorite Ticket Promotion Jan. 8-9

HARRISONBURG, Va. – JMU Athletics is running a two-game "Hometown Favorite" ticket promotion for this weekend's basketball games, aimed at engaging the local community through discounted general admission tickets to the women's basketball game on Jan. 8 and the men's basketball game on Jan. 9.

Fans from both Rockingham and Augusta counties, as well as the cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro, are eligible for a $5 ticket. In addition, all kids 12 and under will receive FREE admission to the games.

Advance tickets may be purchased by calling the JMU Athletics Ticket Office at 540-568-DUKE (3853) or in person at the ticket office inside Door D of the Convocation Center. Tickets may also be purchased at any ticket window (Doors A, B, D, and E) on game day with proof of residency, which may include a valid driver's license or mail/utility bill with a local address.

Women's basketball opens its home Colonial Athletic Association slate on Friday, Jan. 8, against College of Charleston at 7 p.m. The Dukes hold a 3-1 series record against the Cougars, including a 2-0 record at the Convo, and are on a seven-game home winning streak.

Men's basketball follows up with a Saturday afternoon tilt against Towson on Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. In their last bout with the Tigers in 2014-15, the Dukes used a Ron Curry jumper at the buzzer to secure a 63-61 victory. JMU has won nine of its last 10 games this season.
