HARRISONBURG, Va. – Elon opened the match with a victory in the first set, but James Madison volleyball rallied for three straight set victories to top the Phoenix 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 27-25, 25-22) inside Sinclair Gym on Saturday afternoon.
JMU notched its seven consecutive victory over Elon and picked up its second straight Colonial Athletic Association victory to improve to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in conference play. Elon fell to 15-10 and 2-7 in league action.
Right side hitter
Janey Goodman led the Dukes with a match-high 21 kills on 49 swings for a .347 attacking percentage. The senior added two assists and two blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Briley Brind'Amour added 11 kills while swinging on a .429 clip. Sophomore setter
Tilbe Yaglioglu dished out 30 assists to lead JMU to a .343 team attacking percentage, the third-highest team clip for the Dukes this season.
Defensively, JMU recorded its 13th match of the year with double-digit blocks as the Dukes garnered 12 total compared to just six by the Phoenix. Senior middle blocker

Taylor Austin led JMU with 30 digs for the libero's third match of the season with 30 or more digs.
The Dukes and Elon were evenly matched in the first set as the teams traded leads on eight occasions with 14 total ties. The Phoenix face set point, but JMU evened the score at 24-all after an Elon service error. Elon answered with back-to-back points with a kill from Ally Karle and an attacking error on Goodman to win the opening set 26-24.
Recker opened the third set with a kill and the Dukes never look back, pushing its lead up by as much as four over Elon. The Phoenix fought out two consecutive set points, but Robertson hammered home a kill to record a 25-18 set victory for JMU to even the match. In another closely contested set, JMU faced set point, 24-21, after a kill from Brind'Amour. Elon tallied four straight points to take a 25-24 lead. The Dukes tallied three straight points including a rare Austin kill and a block from Gail and Recker to take a 2-1 advantage over Elon.
The Dukes took a six-point lead over Elon in the fourth set, 17-11, but the Phoenix battled back late to pull within one, 23-22. Brind'Amour set JMU up for match point with her 11th kill of the match as Goodman and Gail put the game away in favor of JMU with a game-winning block.

AUSTIN RISES UP THE CHARTS
With her third performance with 30 or more digs,
Taylor Austin vaulted up JMU's single-season digs chart. The Ashburn, Va. native ranks seventh with 455 digs thus far in 2016. Jena Pierson holds JMU's single-season record with 698 digs in 2007. Austin also holds the third-highest, single-season digs average with a 5.76 mark, which leads the league and ranks second in the NCAA.
