WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – On a night that saw senior right side hitter
Janey Goodman move to second all-time in program history for career kills, James Madison volleyball topped William & Mary 3-1 inside Kaplan Arena Friday evening for the Dukes' fourth consecutive Colonial Athletic Association win.
JMU improved to 7-5 in league action with a 15-10 overall mark with the team's eighth straight victory over the Tribe. William & Mary fell to 8-17 overall and 2-10 in conference play.
Goodman led the offense with a match-high 18 kills to jump to second place on JMU's career kills chart. The right side hitter tallied 41 attacks with no errors for a .439 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Bryn Recker garnered her third double-double of the season with 13 kill and 10 digs. Sophomore setter
Tilbe Yaglioglu helped JMU to a .245 team hitting percentage with 27 assists while chipping in eight digs.

Taylor Austin recorded her fourth match of the season with 30 or more digs as the junior racked up a match-high 32.
With the opening set tied at 7-all, William & Mary powered ahead with an 8-1 run over the Dukes. The Tribe capitalized on eight Duke errors in the first set, out-attacking JMU .458 to .125 to notch a 25-16 set victory. With the second set tied at 14-all, JMU found its rhythm with a 6-0 run to pull ahead 20-14. After recording zero blocks in the first set, the Dukes garnered four total to help win the set 25-17 and even the match at the break.
Powered by a timely kill from Goodman, JMU pulled ahead of the Tribe, 20-17, late in the third set. William & Mary used a 4-0 run to take a 21-20 lead before Goodman tallied three straight points to put the Dukes back ahead 23-21. The Tribe fought off two Duke set points to pull within one, but Gail hammered home a kill to give JMU the victory, 25-23, and a 2-1 advantage. The Dukes used a 5-1 run midway through the fourth set to take a 15-9 lead over the Tribe. JMU never relinquished its fourth-set lead, topping the Tribe 25-17.

Janey Goodman jumped
Dana Jones (2000-03) for second place on JMU's career kills chart as the Powhatan, Va. native tallied her 1,571st career kill. The senior stands behind just one Duke,
Lindsay Collingwood (1996-99), who racked up 1,872 kills over her career.
