INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – James Madison won an outright conference championship last weekend, and on Tuesday night, the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Selection Committee unveiled the third and final top-10 list, in which the Dukes came in at No. 4.
JMU won the Colonial Athletic Association title in last Saturday's 20-7 win at Villanova to secure the league's automatic qualifier for the postseason. It was the first time that the Dukes (9-1, 7-0 CAA) won back-to-back championships and the fifth CAA crown in program history. They also claimed the league outright for just the second time and first since 2008.
The Dukes were one of two CAA schools to be represented in the top 10, being joined by CAA-rival Richmond, which was eighth for the second straight week.
North Dakota State, which has won five straight national titles, jumped two spots to No. 1. Following the Bison were No. 2 Eastern Washington, No. 3 Jacksonville State, No. 4 JMU and No. 5 Sam Houston State.
The final bracket will be revealed on Selection Sunday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. on ESPNU. JMU's run in the 2016 playoffs will be sponsored by Excel Heating and Cooling.
The Dukes close the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 19 when they host Elon for Senior Day. Kickoff is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start from Bridgeforth Stadium. The game is sponsored by Pepsi and the 2016 season is presented by CarMax.
